Physical Nature of Water:




Exists as a liquid over a wide ranges of temperatures.



Can store large amounts of heat.








Can dissolve a variety of compounds.



Water can break down into H+ and OH-.

Strong attractive forces between molecules cause high surface tension and high wetting ability.


Unlike most liquids, water expands when it freezes.
